4.00 PM: Welcome and Introduction about IPC and update on “IPC upcoming activities in India” by Gaurab Majumdar, Executive Director, IPC India
4.10 PM: Introduction to Wiring Harness Industry and Wiring Harness Manufacturer’s Association by David Bergman, Executive Director – Wiring Harness Manufacturer’s Association (WHMA)
4.25 PM: Presentation on “Overview (Preparation, Assembly, Inspection, and Shipping) of Wire Harness Assemblies” by Saurabh K. Saxena, HoD, Standards, IPC India
5.20 PM: Q&A
Cable & Wire Harnesses are a vital part of an electronics manufacturing process. It is the key component for connecting the printed circuit board connection with other PCBs or to external circuitry. The wire harness eases the manufacturing process. A faulty wire within the harness or improper wire harness assembly that causes a bad connection can destroy electronic devices or equipment. Since wire harnesses can be used to solve such a diverse range of interconnection challenges, they are used extensively throughout industries. The following sectors often rely on wire harnesses to maximize efficiency: Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Medical, Telecommunications, Information & Communication Technology, Power Manufacturing, Robotics & Automation.
Objective & Benefits of Participation
Wire harnesses would not be so widely used if they didn’t present substantial benefits for wiring applications. The IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard prescribes practices and requirements for the manufacture of cable, wire, and harness assemblies. The standard describes materials, methods, tests, and acceptability criteria for producing crimped, mechanically secured, and soldered interconnections, and the related assembly activities (corresponding lacing/restraining criteria) associated with cable and harness assemblies. Any method that produces an assembly conforming to the acceptability requirements described in this standard may be used. The session will highlight the Industry Association and “Significance of Wire Harness/Criticality/Coaxial and Biaxial Cable Assemblies”
Who can participate
Operators, technicians & professionals involved in Wire Harness/cable assembly/EMS/OEMs/Tool Suppliers. Students & faculties involved with electronics courses are encouraged to participate.
There is no registration charge for participation.
