IPC Continues Advocacy on Articles Exemptions by Filing Comment to EPA on Latest Proposed SNUR
IPC, the Consumer Technology Association™ (CTA) and Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) filed a joint comment to the Environmental Protection Agency reinstating the importance of an articles exemption to proposed Significant New Use Rules (SNUR) on three flame retardants, TCEP, TBBPA, and TPP. The comment highlights the difficulties electronics companies that sell complex articles face when attempting to obtain chemical substance information.
The comment also emphasizes the lack of information and tracking associated with flame retardants across the supply chain and the lack of material content documentation, making it nearly impossible to know what materials end up in a final complex article. This comment reinstates the importance of understanding a complex multi-tiered supply chain where information sharing, and data collection is incredibly difficult.
