Hand Soldering Competition Winner Crowned at RENEX Soldering Championship 2019 in Wloclawek, Poland

16 April 2019 - RENEX, an IPC-licensed training center, held a regional hand soldering competition in its brand-new Technology Center in Wloclawek, Poland on 11 April.

Seventy hand soldering professionals (including 13 female competitors and 57 male competitors) went soldering iron to iron, vying for the hand soldering competition title and a chance to compete in the IPC Hand Soldering World Championship at productronica this November in Munich.

At the end of the competition, Jakub Goławski, Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych i Telekomunikacyjnych located in Olsztyn, Poland took the first-place title and qualified for the world championship.  Goławski earned 431 points and delivered soldered board in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Second place went to Grzegorz Szymańczuk, G-TRONIXREWORK located in Pruszcz Gdański, Polan.  Szymańczuk earned 423 points and completed his board in 1 hour and 8 minutes. Taking third place, also with a score 423 points, but with a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes, was Cezary Puchowski from 3shape, located in Szczecin, Polans.

The one-day hand soldering competition for students took place on Wednesday 10 April, with nearly 70 high-school students participating. Adam Troszyński who earned first place for the quality of his board assembly. Second place went to Michał Samul and third place went to Paweł Rogowski. 

In addition to the professional and student hand soldering competitions, visitors had the privilege of watching the 2018 Polish HSC champion, Michał Czerwiec, compete against a robotic, fully equipped pick and place machine (a Reeco RE-1200) to complete a PCBA. Czerwiec won the challenge and completed a perfect PCBA in six minutes. The robot required six minutes, six seconds to deliver the PCBA.

With the continued success and excitement generated around the IPC Hand Soldering Competitions, IPC is planning to hold additional Regional Qualification competitions in Europe in the coming months: Germany next month in Nuremberg, at SMTconnect, UK in September in Brimingham at WNIE, and finally Germany in November at productronica in Munich.
