Career Opportunity - CONTRACT Instructional Designer

IPC is looking to hire a CONTRACT Instructional Designer. The CONTRACT Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts to ensure the relevance and accuracy of instructional content and employ ADDIE-based processes to design, develop, implement, and assess engaging learning activities and compelling course content for use in classroom, blended, and e- learning training programs and instructional materials.


Analysis – 20%

  • Perform learner analysis to ensure that content conforms to the needs of students
  • Assist in determining the scope, goals, requirements, design, and success metrics for new
  • education projects.

Design and Development – 60%

  • Work with subject matter experts to determine the scope of instruction and ensure the accuracy of instructional content.
  • Engage subject matter experts as well as web, print, and other resources to obtain, validate, and document the information required to develop instructional content.
  •  Research and distill scientific and technological concepts obtained from subject matter experts and other reliable sources to create easily understandable content that aligns with stated learning objectives.
  • Conceptualize and source graphics to facilitate the comprehension of written or narrated content, increase student engagement, and help students achieve learning objectives.
  • Employ best practices to develop assessments to facilitate student retrieval practice, measure student learning.

Evaluation -20%

  • Participate in the development of surveys, assessments, and evaluation methods for all education products to determine educational effectiveness, user adoption, and satisfaction.
  • Analyze information on training research, new materials, methods and techniques, and makes recommendations for their adoption by IPC.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in planning, designing and developing educational content.
  • Three or more years of experience in working with the electronics or a related manufacturing industry, preferred.
  • Instructional design experience, including conducting needs analysis, applying instructional design methodologies using adult learning theory, and interacting with subject matter experts to obtain content for intended audiences while translating it into appropriate training components.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and takes pride in work
  • Passionate about writing and developing high-quality instructional materials
  • Eager to acquire new knowledge and learn new skills
  • Able to explain complex concepts and processes in simple terms and with relatable examples
  • Able to use an innate sense of curiosity to locate, learn, and distill scientific and technological concepts into easily understandable instructional content
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Proficiency in the use of Articulate Storyline and/or other course authoring software
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Visual design skills (Storyline, Photoshop, Illustrator, Camtasia)
  • Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Able to produce high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to receive negative feedback in a constructive manner
  • Treats colleagues, customers, contractors, and public in a kind, respectful, and professional manner
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), Google Docs, Skype, and GoToMeeting
