IPC Education Online: Wisdom Wednesdays

You are invited to the next Wisdom Wednesday session. This monthly briefing educates IPC members on topics relevant to the industry. Each FREE 30-minute session is offered only to IPC members, with replays available online. These sessions are led by industry experts who share their technical knowledge and insights.

As the speed of signal switching on a circuit board increases, it is critical for PCB designers to control the acceptable tolerance for impedance of printed circuit board traces. Because it is more difficult to address the issue after the components have been placed on the board, it is important to ensure that the impedance is correctly mitigated during the design phase.

How to Control Your Impedance, presented by Amit Bahl, Sierra Circuits, will be held on April 11 at 10:00-10:45 am CT. Bahl will give a detailed explanation of what controlled impedance is, how and why you need to control it in the manufacturing process, and how to design a board with controlled impedance. He will also provide information on common mistakes to avoid when designing and how to document controlled impedance requirements in design files.
