The power distribution section of a PC board is the foundation around which all things work in the circuit. If not designed correctly, the entire circuit is at risk from noise and the high probability of EMI. Extremely low impedance in the power bus of digital circuits is critical across the range of harmonic frequencies, extending at least to the knee frequency.
This webcast will cover:
-
Major components of the power bus
-
Importance of IC pin assignments
-
Placement and type of decoupling
-
Real performance of capacitors (verses myth)
-
How much decoupling is enough
-
One value of capacitor, or two, or more?
-
Importance and performance of power/ground planes
-
Importance of board stack
