IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries is looking to hire a Network and Systems Manager

The Network and Systems Manager will be responsible managing the overall design, operation and support of the data, and voice systems.  Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activity of the network, systems and helpdesk staff and/or contractors responsible for the operation of local and wide area network, user systems, servers and related peripherals. Maintain secure and reliable networks by developing policy and employing both original and industry standard methods and procedures. Provide technical and administrative support for company network using Windows and Linux operating systems and a variety of application software and hardware. Manage the Help Desk process and related system. Provide end user troubleshooting support. Specify, procure, install and configure computers and peripherals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage, support and maintain the global IPC IT infrastructure and users. This includes:

  • Internal infrastructure – Install, maintain and troubleshoot servers (physical and virtual servers, domain controllers, backup servers, file, print, proxy, etc.)
  • Establish and perform software and hardware maintenance practices following company and vendor standards.
  • Provide support for the following: Windows 20xx Servers, Windows 2012 Clusters, Linux (Ubunto & Centos), EMC Clariion CX-4 SAN, Windows 10 clients, MAC OSX clients, and system level admin for Microsoft SQL, SharePoint and IIS servers.
  • Networks - Configure and maintain network services including LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, ADFS and SSO. Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware including switches, routers (Dell, Cisco), wireless access points, network peripherals, and cabling.
  • Utilize technology to provide staff with a fast, reliable, and secure method to access information including remote access connectivity to office systems and applications.
  • Applications – Install and maintain infrastructure applications such as web services (IIS & Apache), Microsoft Office and Office 365 (Exchange, Outlook, Skype for Business), Firewall/VPN, File and Print services.
  • Security - Ensure systems security by assigning appropriate permissions for application access, configuring firewall policies to restrict unauthorized access to the network and resources. Ensure all systems (servers and client PCs) are patched and up-to-date.  Install and maintain all security devices including Firewalls (knowledge of SonicWall, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto), Anti-virus and Anti-spam applications and appliances (Sophos, Barracuda). Utilize Group Policy to secure systems using recommended best practices.
  • Manage network and system staff – manage and participate in the small team that covers helpdesk, infrastructure and systems worldwide.
  • Documentation - Maintain configuration documentation and diagrams for all supported Networks and environments, both cloud physical.
  • Workstations – Manage the configuration, deployment and maintenance of workstations and supported software throughout the organization.
  • Helpdesk - Work with staff to maintain, support and train our internal customers, their systems, networks, and applications for all sites and users. Track issues against SLAs.
  • Monitor – manage availability of enterprise systems and applications to ensure uptime and meeting internal SLA commitments. Evaluate efficiency and performance of hardware and software.  Using this information, modify systems to make them more efficient.
  • Hardware & Software Selection - Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software. Manage the upgrade and replacement cycle for all hardware.
  • Backups – Using best practices, configure and maintain backups for all environments and ensure that a recovery plan is in place. (Veam, Barracuda)

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 5+ years’ experience, or 10+ years’ experience implementing and supporting enterprise level systems and networks in a distributed environment.
  • Microsoft Certifications (MCSA (O365, W10, 2016), CCNA, AWS (Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer), Linux+ (or similar), or 10+ years supporting these environments
  • Must be able to travel to other offices, IPC Events, about 15-20%

IPC practices a virtual workspace and maintains offices in Chicago and Atlanta. This position is located in the Bannockburn, IL office.
