IPC today announced the US Printed Wiring Board Industry Book-to-Bill Ratio for November was 1.01, down from the October ratio of 1.03.

Sales billed (shipments) in November increased 10.9% over November 1998 and orders booked increased 14.0% over November 1998.

Compared to 1998, bookings of PWBs are up 6.1% year-to-date, while shipments of PWBs are up 7.0% year-to-date.

The ratio is calculated by averaging the number of orders booked the past three months and dividing by the average sales billed during the same period.

The information is based on data provided by the 91 rigid and flexible PWB manufacturers participating in IPC’s monthly Statistical Program. These companies represent over 40% of the US domestic printed wiring board market. IPC publishes the book-to-bill each month. (Statistics for the previous month are not available until the last week of the following month.) For more information, contact Dan Green at the IPC, 847-597-2871.
